Does our church internship program equip new pastors?

Context

The Well is a training program in New South Wales, Australia, to train leaders from diverse backgrounds. The program aims to provide those who feel called to a life of ministry with an alternative to seminary. The trainees spend two years interning at a church with a focus on engaging the local community and helping diversify the ways the church reaches out into the community.

Research

The Well has resources to conduct research, so they asked Beyond Data to help develop a research plan that would measure the program’s impact on the intern, the local church, the local community, and the diocese. Our research plan included both qualitative and quantitative data collection with recommendations on how to conduct the analyses over the two-year project.

Deliverable

For this project, we delivered a high-level research plan that could be used to explain the project to stakeholders. We also provided more granular plans about which questions to ask, how to code the questions, and how to analyze the results.
