How do we communicate the potential benefits of our program to secure funding?

Context

Puget Sound Educational Services District is a regional education agency that offers a range of services and programs designed to support and enrich K-12 education via specific programming, support staff and services, and community partnerships. The Expanded Learning Programs component of PSESD sought the support of Beyond Data as they applied for a major grant from the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers to support their work.

Research

Beyond Data conducted the background research to substantiate the need for the expanded learning opportunities of the receiving schools. Using school-specific data on student demographic composition and area-wide economic and family need, we were able to help create a comprehensive picture of why and how these services were especially important to these targeted school communities. We also also consulted with their team to develop ways to measure the goals of the grant and the specific activities it supports in feasible, effective, and persuasive ways.

Deliverable

Working with their team, we helped write a complete grant proposal that was fully funded for five years -- $2.5 million in total.
